General Elementary Tutoring

Whole-child support, across subjects

Some children don't need a math tutor or a reading tutor — they need a teacher in their corner. Someone who sees the whole picture, works on what matters most each week, and keeps everything moving forward.

General elementary tutoring is the flexible option: one consistent weekly session with a credentialed teacher, covering whatever your child most needs — reading one month, the new math unit the next, a big project in between, always with an eye on confidence and habits. It's especially right for families who see their child slipping in more than one area, for children who benefit from steady mentorship more than targeted intervention, and for the transitions (new school, new grade, post-summer) where everything needs a little shoring up at once.

The through-line is my teacher's-eye view. Because I teach the elementary curriculum every day, I can move fluidly between subjects, spot how a reading issue is bleeding into math word problems, and keep priorities straight: we always work on the thing that unlocks the most.

The generalist advantage

Why families choose it

One trusted adult

A consistent weekly relationship — the same teacher who knows your child, not a rotating cast.

Flexible focus

Sessions follow what school and your child serve up, inside a coherent long-term plan.

Confidence throughout

Social-emotional learning woven into everything, because it powers everything.

One clear report

You get a single, plain-language picture of how your child is really doing across the board.

When targeted tutoring is better

If one specific gap is holding your child back — decoding, math facts, writing shutdowns — a targeted service like phonics, math, or writing tutoring will move faster. The consultation sorts this out: tell me what you're seeing, and I'll recommend the shape that fits. Plenty of students start general and go targeted, or the reverse.

Like all of my services, this is delivered one-on-onein your home anywhere in the South Bay of Los Angeles, or online in live video sessions.

Questions parents ask

Is general tutoring less effective than subject tutoring?

It's differently effective. For a single deep gap, targeted tutoring wins. For broad support, habits, confidence, and keeping a busy family's academic life coherent, the generalist model is exactly right — and it's closest to what great classroom teaching looks like.

Can we switch focus over time?

That's the design. The plan flexes with report cards, teacher feedback, and what I observe. We'll check priorities together regularly.

Do you cover science and social studies?

At the elementary level, science and social studies difficulties are almost always reading and writing difficulties wearing a costume — and yes, I support the projects, reports, and reading those classes assign.
