My son is in 2nd grade and reading below level. Is it too late to catch up?
Not even close — 2nd grade is prime catch-up territory. The usual culprit is a specific phonics gap, findable in one session and closable in weeks of targeted work. The urgency is real, but so is the fix.

Reading, almost always — it's the gateway skill every other subject depends on, and the one where early gaps compound fastest. A child reading confidently by 3rd grade has options everywhere; that's where I'd point a single focused investment.
